Thinking about kids rooms a lot lately

Hello lovelies! We hope you had a wonderful and productive weekend! If you haven’t gotten around to our give away – don’t forget to check it out – it’s a good one! We did a lot of thinking and brainstorming our next moves for the master bedroom and how we “really feel about our new curtains. We also thought about…the kids room. I have been pretty dead set on a Circus Theme, French style. We haven’t done a mood board for this room, so we figure it was time now that we have the windows “covered”, and the mural moving along.

Finished Stencil + Giveaway Time!

****give away is closed. winner is picked. thank you for chekcing out Cutting Edge Stencils!**** Happy Friday lovelies! We are super excited to report the wall is looking quite fab, and makes us smile every time we look at it! We know it’s a little bold and modern, but it just works so well in our otherwise boring (at the moment!) master bedroom. A few of you asked about the paint decisions, and here is what we got to share.  We did the stenciling in a semi-gloss and the other three walls we are going to do in an eggshell.

Parisian Circus, I love you so!

Hey there fellow DIY friends! We hope your week is treating you well! A few weeks back I spoke about mixing black stripes in with the Rabat stencil we just did on our Master bedroom wall. This made me toss and turn every night for days on end. How am I going to make this work? I realized I was forcing it, and it was going to look that way. So I did the smartest thing I could, I decided our child’s room would be “Parisian Circus”, and I would live in an “adult room”.  Now what to do with

Dressing Windows Aint Cheap

Follow my blog with bloglovin Hello pretty people. We have been kinda jumpping around the house trying to focus on “fixing” the “little things” that keep us up at night. A while back we preached about the importance of window coverings in the winter to keep down the cost of heat. It took us a while to find just the right curtains, and boy were they more pricey than we anticipated. As you can see below, we really needed to dress the puppies up. Besides heating bills which cost more than my old rent in Brooklyn, these windows were looking

We fell in love with stencils this weekend!

Follow my blog with bloglovin Yep. That’s us. Totally pooped. This weekend was very much dedicated to our bedroom. Joey really took over getting the stencil complete while I did chores and errands. As I sat down to post this, I noticed a week has gone by since we last updated all you pretty people. The guilt kinda got to me and then a remembered a phone call I had with a fellow blogger/best friend just a few days ago. We are working women (and she’s super preggo!) and have very high demands on our time. Any given week, I

True Value Blog Squad: This Chapter is over

When True Value gave us the goal of accomplishing new and fresh ideas for our readers using their products, we couldn’t help but be inspired. We pushed ourselves into building a bed, a screen door, revamping and creating new lamps, and even got over the fear of painting the fireplace! It was a good journey with nine other talented bloggers. I was actually lucky enough to meet Kate from Centsational Girl, when she graciously invited me to the Nate Show with her. All in all it was the perfect DIY venture to join, and we are eternally grateful for it! With no

Pondering Paint

Our bedroom is a putty color right now. It came that way. We like it just fine. After finishing up the bed, we got a bit of the “finish the bedroom bug”. Hence, we are naturally starting with the walls. Instead of “just fine” walls, we want walls we love. We have a few ideas in mind, we expressed here.  We started prepping the far wall from the bed to stencil. We tested a few colors. Take a peek. The colors we picked seemed too blue, or too white. So back to the drawing board. This time we found something

TRUE VALUE BLOG SQUAD CHALLANGE – A BED FIT FOR A KING! The Final Chapter!

Drum roll please!!!! The day has come where we are actually sleeping on our brand spankin’ new King size bed we made from scratch! I can’t believe we finished this massive project. I cried. I actually cried the moment it was complete. Half out of pure frustration of the time it took, and half because I am so proud Joey was able to make the most beautiful bed! Behold (along with the glorious mess we made) the bed!   Now, this bed is HUGE. I’m not kidding or exaggerating. It’s massive. See the pillars behind it? Those are 7+ ft.

Shame on us!

Just kidding. Well kind of just kidding. The Love and I got out of dodge for a while to escape the Alaska quality weather going on here in good ‘ol NYC. We were able to avoid an additional 19″ of snow while we ventured down to Sunny FLA and the Bahamas. With nothing “homey” to report – we took a vacation from our blog to just relax and see some old friends. It was true nourishment for the brain. I wound up chanting words I thought I would never say: ” I don’t want to go home!”. Awful I know.
