Spring Spirit

We have finally had a day that feels like spring, and it’s awesome! Hope you are having some sunshine in your neck of the woods too! The advertising and commercials have been killing me with all things flowery and fun – it’s such a tease. Have you seen this one from Target? Super cute! It looks more like a mini-movie trailer (of something I would want to see in theaters) than a commercial. The cool part is you can shop the video. The bad part is, when I went to check out the Threshold collection – the shelves are constantly

Photo Project Fun

Hello friends! A million and one years ago in another life, I use to take photos for a living. I toured with many a band, to many of states and shot live and editorial for many of magazines. This was back when film was 35mm, and my life only focused around music. Fast forward 10 years and here I am barely able to turn on a digital camera, and I take photos of my baby, husband, and house now. As amateur as they may be, these new pictures that my life revolves around are the most valuable to me.

One-a-Week / 9

I love this one-a-week project because it’s so quick and cheap, yet yields such impact. I collected some geodes over time on ebay and just used super glue and some tiny mighty magnets I got at the craft store. And there you have it! fridge magnets that are fresh and look more like art than something forgotten to hold up your to-do list.

Let's Eat / 4

As I itch for sunshine, I am playing with some Spring and Summer dishes and I scored one that’s perfect for picnics and BBQ’s! It’s vegan if you are OK with honey, and not vegan if your are not, but I bet using agave as a replacement would work just fine. I had to make this a few times to get it just right. Here are some tips to check out before reading the recipe. let your wheatberry’s soak for an hour or so before you boil them – it will take WAY less time to cook. rince the wheatberries

Officially Announcing Atlas

It’s been over eight weeks since we had our little bean. Tomorrow will officially mark two whole months! Time is just whizzing by at an unbelievable speed. We had a minor mix up with our birth announcements, but they are finally here and we LOVE them! We got the idea from a pin we saw on pinterest and edited it to our specifications. Joey and I are pretty bad with photoshop, but after the try-fail method a million times – we finally wond up with something we loved and it only cost us $15 for 50! We used overnight prints with a coupon, but pretty much

Mix and Match Patterns Like a Champ

I use to think that if you did something and it wasn’t successful on the first try, you should just quit. I am not talking about the “big stuff”, more like trying out a new dish to cook, or pillows on a couch. Before I started decorating other peoples homes I also thought designers just knew what to do for the most part. Let me tell you a secret. We don’t! We try, try, and try again. We will order 10 of something and rearrange stuff a million ways until it feels right. Symmetry has a lot to do with that feeling. Sure we know some tricks

It's a Spring Thing

It’s snowing outside right now. Not so spring-y, eh? Join me in summoning the sunshine and flowers with “It’s a Spring Thing” blog hop and link up! Emily and Roeshel have already posted their projects and link party, and Kim is next week. Don’t forget to join in on each of our blogs! This week is Joey and I had our turn to make a Spring Thing happen , and we built Atlas a magnetic house. Yep, you read that right! So what’s a magnetic house? It’s a play house with a few layers of magnetic paint, then covered up with a

5 Tips to Keep & Grow Healthy Plants & Vegetables This Spring!

I tend to kill plants. Like every plant I have ever bought. Even cacti. I have tried over and over again to nurture and love them so they flourish  yet I fail. I follow the instructions exactly, and somehow I am unable to grow anything from a seed, or keep anything alive. I had Joey build me some raised beds before winter started so I can meditate and focus on healthy plants in the box. I wish I was kidding. I blame New York. Dirty air and crapy winter kills the spirit of my plants. At least that’s what I tell

Top 6 Spring Must Haves in Our House

I am collecting pretty Spring dresses as inspiration to lose this baby weight I gained. 15 lbs down…..and a lot more to go! Thank goodness it’s warming up. It’s been fun shopping for a little man, and surprising how quickly he grows out of stuff! I found some super cute stuff for him this Spring and can’t wait to coordinate. Oh yea, I’m that mom. 1. 2. 3. 4.

Let's Eat / 4

Happy Wednesday! Joey and I discuss what we are going to eat every day for at least 20 minutes before we make a decision. I am not going to lie. It’s hard sometimes with me being a super strict vegetarian and him loving his burgers and dogs. I do have a trick p my sleeve sometimes. Want to know how to make a carnivore happy? Vegan. Pulled. Pork. Yes! This is one of Joey and my favorite meals. The Texan eats my vegan pulled pork with a smile. Let us know what you think! Vegan Pulled Pork Recipe Type: Sandwich
