Nashville House Tour // Living Room

**Sorry for the server error earlier, all good now!***

Happy Tuesday friends! Each week we have been chipping away and unpacking each room as best we can with the limited time we have and sharing what the rooms look like unpacked. Today we are excited to share our living room. We are thrilled our couch fits in it! When we were house hunting we basically turned away from dozens of houses because it wouldn’t fit our monstrous furniture. We soon realized none of the cottages in Nashville were going to support our massive dining room set, couch, three major chair-and-a-half’s, bed, and coffee table – so we caved. The couch and bed fit, along with one of the chair-and-a-half’s, but the rest is living in storage as we figure things out.

This room is small folks. Even though it supports our 118″ couch, we had to pull Atlas’ rug from his nursery (it didn’t fit anyway), and use that along with the coffee table from our old master bedroom’s siting area. We have the TV temporarily living on a craigslist campaign desk find from New York, and some whacky angles, front door, and jams to work with. That being said – this room will one day be a casual sitting room. We plan to expand and make a living-dining combo attached to the kitchen in addition to a studio for Joey, a bathroom, and small hallway.

So, here is the plan. Joey is going to build custom pipe shelves next to the fireplace and take up that whole wall. We are going to customize a projector screen to be hidden when not in use in it somehow. We don’t have a plan for the fireplace itself, but we are not in love with it.

The walls are being painted, the curtains replaced (they came with the house), and the TV and campaign desk removed, and added to the master bedroom. We are hunting for a great replacement for the ceiling light and even in talks of a new front door. We are still piecing together the accessories, art, and what’s going to ultimately flank the couch, but have a good idea of how we want the space to feel.

We don’t want to invest anything crazy into this room because we rather take that money and put it towards the addition and go for exactly what we want in there.  Until then, we’ll make it cozy and safe for Atlas to play and dance around in.
