House of Stain

We scored. Big time. Nashville Craigslist is kind of magical at moments. We walked away with six new-to-us dining chairs. For $20. They were solid wood, but twice painted over with latex , and adorned with a country cushion. If you could see past that, you would see a super cute and pretty large chair that just needed a little stain and velvet. We couldn’t pick a color, we were kind of stuck between two, so we did some testing, and more testing on scrap wood. The top piece is Olympic Maximum in Royal Mahogany with a Semi-Transparent finish. Below is […]

Gypsy Picnic Treasure Hunting

G’mornin lovies! We are in party mode in Casa Katsaros! We have two parties we are hosting and a hearty handful of more to attend. This weather is worth celebrating. We noticed the fireflies in Tennessee are about a magical as you can get, so those cool night parties are a lot like fiction and we are grateful people here like to enjoy these simple moments as much as possible. I don’t think we have come across a porch sans swing to date. We have been working with Pier 1 and Spotify on a Gypsy Picnic over the past […]

One Important Tip for Hanging Outdoor Curtains

Hello friends! We are very excited about today’s post. Back in New York we had this great idea to use pipes to make 360 degree curtain rods, and they worked out great! We adored our little mudroom off the kitchen, and even though this new Nashville house has a mudroom, it’s totally different and does not require the same window dressing. Our patio however, very much does. This time though, we had to really think about curtains mingling with the elements, and what we were going to do to avoid things like mold and keeping them clean. If you […]

Plans for the Dining Room

Hello folks! Planning what we are doing with our dining room is a little tricky. All our old furniture simply doesn’t fit, so it’s in storage. Problem being, the room is very tiny. This is an issue because we wanted this space to be multi-purpose. Space is at a premium so we are having to reorganise where we planned to put everything. We’ve been contemplating a home theater installation for a while now and felt we could make it work in this room, but we are going to have to use the living room instead. Quite frankly this dining room […]

DIY Trunk (or anything really) Risers

Joey here! Have you ever wanted to make something you own sit higher off the ground than where it previously rested? Well, I’m here to tell you how! YAY! When Lana purchased these trunks a year or so ago she was so excited. And why not? They hold stuff, you can put things on top of them, and they’re GOLD! If I remember things correctly (which I almost certainly don’t) she jumped up in the air and clicked her heels like an old time prospector. Fast forward to today and I was tasked with making some risers for them out […]

Nashville House Tour // Master Bath

Hello friends. We had a wonderful and very busy weekend with Rich Hippies at Porter Flea in Nashville. If you have never been, I very much suggest you make a day of it. There are so many talented folks. We were humbled to be amongst them. We are about 1/2 though 100 projects right now, and I am bursting at the seams to get them up on the blog. Our home tour series is almost complete, which means a lot more fun ideas to share are coming so soon. We know our move and the baby has side tracked us […]

Nashville House Tour // Front Porch

We are so excited to have a porch. Like, way way way too excited. Our old home had a lot of great offerings, but a porch was never going to happen for it. The style was too “grand” to support something as cozy and cute as a porch. This house was made for that porch, and we have been enjoying it from day one. It’s pretty big, but not big enough for a table and chairs to dine on. It has this “L” shape to it, which I have been referring to as a “half wrap porch”. Maybe that’s a […]
