The Rich Hippies House Sunday Supper

I have been itching to throw a dinner party for local creatives for a while, so it was very exciting to actually set the date and make it happen. Joey built two huge cedar tables and benches to seat 20 folks and we collected some local talent to play along. The Rich Hippies House was the venue of course, and we got our tried and true photographer, Shelby to snap pics of the event. My friends Amanda and Gaby cohosted and everyone pitched in! Jules Aron made fresh and healthy cocktails and they were truly amazing. I am a big fan […]

The Countdown to Everything Changing Begins Now!

I have been planning this for years! When we moved from Nashville, we were headed to Portugal. That was two years ago. My dad was sick, and in need of a kidney and care, so we changed our plans. He had a ton of friends, but no consistent and reliable support to care for him and I knew if we didn’t show up for him, no-one would. I tried to keep the shop in Nashville while caring for him and Atlas along side Joey – but after a year we had to close the shop. It just wasn’t sustainable or […]

My Dad

When we were in the thick of it, I didn’t want to share too much because my outlook was really hopefully. For friends who stopped by the Nashville shop back in September, we were pretty open with why we were closing and what was making us do it so quickly. My dad was the reason we decided to move down to Florida and not head straight to Portugal or back to New York. After a year and a half of tending to his needs, they grew so much that there was no way we could live in Florida, and also […]

Adventure 7 / New York, NY Without Kids!

New here? Check out our about us! Length of stay: Six Nights Accommodations: Airbnb in the Lower East Side Travel Time: via Palm Beach International Airport to JFK 2:30 October is a tricky month. As a family, we dedicate the whole entire thing to Halloween the moment the clock strikes 12:00am on October 1st. Our son, Atlas, is wildly obsessed with it all. The feeling of being slightly scared, the dressing up, the decorating, the spooky songs and movies, haunted houses (though he got totally freaked this year!), learning the steps to the Thriller video, the pageantry of it all. October […]

Adventure 6 // Houston, Texas

New here? Check out our about us! Length of stay: Eight Nights Accommodations: At the In-Law’s Hello friends. We have just returned from a three week road trip adventure, and boy did we learn some lessons! This was way more difficult than our Portugal/Zurich/London adventure a few months back – simply because so many unplanned events happened. That’s another post for another time though. This post I am excited to share because I have been to Houston more times the I can count, and this is the first time we actually decided to write about it! Joey was born and raised […]

A Peek at Late Summer Rich Hippies Littles

If you have been following along for a while, you may know Rich Hippies (our children’s shop) started with baby yoga pants for my very chunky son, Atlas. That grew into craft shows, which lead to our first Nashville shop, then another. Somewhere in the middle I spent a ton of time editing these pants, 70+ times, to be exactly what every mom and child would want. Eventually we began to design and print our own fabric, and then find an American factory to work with. Five years later, this is the result of finally turning my fat baby solution […]

Peek Inside Makers Day at The Rich Hippies House

Hi friends! We had such a wonderful event last week, I had to share all the amazing work our students did. We had three wonderful teachers , Lou from Garner Blue who taught the beautiful and magical shibori workshop, followed by the very lovely macrame duo, Yadi and Alex from Yerbamala. It was a typical warm summer Florida day, and we were lucky enough to escape the rain during this seven hour workshop. The morning started with a shibori class. Everyone got to design their own napkin set and tea towel and take their creations home. After lunch we gathered […]

The Rich Hippies House Studio Before and After

The studio is where we tend to spend most of our time when we are at The Rich Hippies House. We have had family slumber parties, movie play dates, gatherings, and dinners in this nook of the property on repeat since it was close to finished, it just has a “let’s gather” vibe. Before the feelings of wanting to be there was as strong as they are, this studio went through what looked like the seventh circle of hell. I kid you not. Sorry for the poltergeist level grain on these photos, but that’s all that was available. We did […]

An Update on Life

Follow my blog with Bloglovin If you have been following along on instagram and here, you have seen peeks of the massive project we have been working on this year, The Rich Hippies House. When we purchased her, she was in pretty bad shape and then just a few days after closing, a hurricane hit and trashed the yard. We lost a few fences, plants, and trees broke. It made the clearing out process pretty annoying, but at the same time we were very grateful that’s all the damage we encountered. We haven’t shared too much because the timeline has […]
