It’s the end of January, and I haven’t even begun implementing my “resolutions”. I promised myself to be more organized. I get such a thrill setting things up, but I am the worst at doing all the hard work after spending weeks delicately and obsessively setting up my “house cleaning binder” “weekly shopping and meals binder” “expenses and bills binder”. They sit pretty on the shelf, untouched after some point around March EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.
So I made a more general promise to myself this year. Save the hours setting up the operations manuals for “life” and just keep it simple and clean. I got a huge planner I love a bunch and have been using (it was a mid-year from 2015 going through 2016) and a clean desk.
I noticed, the cuter something was and the more I liked it, the more I used it while other items just got pushed back into drawers and ignored. A zen-like place to function is so important to me because most of the time I have a toddler running around pants-less pretending to be a dinosaur and forget the last 10 “to-do” thoughts I had. This minimal and calm “work zone” has also made me realize I want to throw/give/donate everything away and have less of “everything” and more of the things that actually are useful and make me happy. Target dollar bins, I will now walk right past you.
So here is the big ‘ol Bucket List of 2016, which is short, but wildly complicated. Also it’s such a big deal for me to put it out there on the chance NONE of these things happen. I have a pretty good feeling Rich Hippies #2 will open this year, I signed my lease and ordered my displays, so it’s in progress.
Moving back home has been rather difficult. We didn’t realize selling a house in the winter would be so hard. We need three major things to happen before we move, and none of them have fallen into place. Instead of forcing it, we decided to make sure it’s exactly how we want it before we leave. Nashville is great, and it’s not a place to run from.
Hoping Bangkok and Chiang Mai happens too – we just booked our room last night! This is a Honeymoon-haven’t vacationed in three years-we need an adventure-let’s go meditate trip and we can’t wait to tell you all about it.
I feel really great about 2016, but also see this blog moving in a more varied direction being we have been in limbo on the home front for so long. More passion posts about travel and food and family mixed in with good old DIY and home improvement. Cheers friends, hope you have your happy all set up for the year.
