We played hooky on Friday. I guess that’s kind of a silly thing to say when both Joey and I work for ourselves these days. We needed a breather. With all the home reno chaos + business trips building up, we haven’t had very much time for our little am over the past few weeks. We loved what Rhinebeck had to offer when we popped over for the Country Living Fair a few weeks back, so decided go without a plan and explore the town. From southern Westchester, it’s about an hour and a half drive – and very worth it.
The main part of town is basically an intersection jammed with local shops and restaurants.
We picked a place called Terrapin to have lunch, and it was very good and very cute. We ate on the outside patio and got a few of the small plates to start and I landed on the sour cherry salad, and it was fresh. I love when we find a spot that’s vegetarian friendly and good for Joey and stroller friendly, and delicious. Not to mention, this place was super cute.
After eating we started walking off the calories and shopping. We found this antique barn looking place, a little hidden. It was your basic antique mall with a bunch of vendors under a single roof, but some of the stalls were good. Very good.
I kind of wish I bought that ship. Joey talked me out of it. I keep dreaming about it. also, that teapot was very very amazing. I may have to go back.
The whole town was super duper cute and easy to walk, even with a stroller.
The toy shops were really great too. You know when you live some place and you see the same stuff over and over? It was nice to see some new stuff. I am sure if you live there you are sick of local honey and the same 20 boutiques, but for a visit – it’s so cute and such a nice, fun day.
Next up? We found this castle on this mountain on the way home…..
