Adventure 12 // Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida
When Lauderdale by the Sea reached out about a media stay, we didn't think we could swing it. We had been so behind with packing and planning for our adventure around the world the we didn’t think there was a moment to spare. I can’t express how happy I am the we accepted. It was actually what we really needed - a moment of peace in the midst of chaos.
We started off our mini-vacation at The Plunge Hotel, which was very adorable and our room had he best beach view. Lauderdale by the Sea is slightly more than 1.5 square miles, so you can easily walk the entire town and enjoy all it’s offerings, which is all beachside. Our hotel was a the end of a street that was calm and quiet, but also close enough to walk to everything.
The Plunge Hotel has a Publix right across the street which was great for grabbing drinks and snacks for beach time. Also the pool downstairs was super clean and we all enjoyed time swimming and hanging out. Atlas even dozed into a sun nap, which is a very rare and welcomed event. It didn’t hurt there was a view of the ocean from the pool either.
One of my favorite finds in town was a popsicle place that was new-to-me, The Hyppo. They have a ton of vegan options and I loved the black sesame so much. We have driven back twice to treat ourselves since our stay. If you are like Joey and love fish and meat check out Aruba Cafe and Billy Jack’s Shack - you have a ton of options (vegans, not so much!)! Atlas was a fan of the popsicles of course and also Sloan’s. Vegans aren’t so lucky at LBTS overall, but hopefully with the influx of interested tourists visiting, more vegan options will become available soon. It’s still worth the stay for the retro beach vibe and easy breezy walkability.
Thank you for having us Lauderdale by the Sea + Plunge Hotel!
‘Til next time, safe travels!

Lana
