The Best Tip for Hanging Curtains Outside
Do this before hanging curtains outside, you’ll be so happy you did!
This is something we decided to do when we lived in Nashville, and I am so happy we did! It was SO long ago, I had to dig up these very old photos to show you how quick and simple it is to protect your outdoor curtains before you have them. I kept seeing mold build up on outdoor fabric, from outdoor cushions to curtains, to even certain rugs. I had always dreamed of a porch with curtains, but I didn’t want to deal with the mold issue. We decided to try using NeverWet to protect some cheap sheers, and it was such a good decision.
I don’t want to pretend this is some epic DIY post, because it’s just so simple and easy, it’s more of a tip. We simply hung the curtains on a drying rack outside and sprayed them with NeverWet and then tested them out after they dried over night. It worked well, but it didn’t have that full barrier I really wanted, so the next day we used a painters bucket and soaked the curtains and then let dry again over night.
Perfect results! They lasted us for three years with high rain storms, cleaning them with a hose from bugs making their homes in the creases and also survived Atlas wiping his hands on them and then use using soap and water to clean them.
This whole project was about $40 total and lasted for the length of our lives in that house! People still ask about it today, so I figured I would share again!
