A Very Big List of Vegan Take Away in Amsterdam (Always Updating)
This was quite a project and I am so happy we decided to do it. Take away has taken on a whole new necessity in our lives. We were so excited about discovering new places on Holland, and then the world stopped. Being on the extra safe side with Atlas, we don’t go out to public spaced and cringe when deliveries arrive. We are full blown hazmat level responsive, so we cooked every meal, every day for months. After a while we started to get comfortable with limited take away options from establishments that were truly respecting health and safety. Needless to say, this list took forever to compile, but I hope it can help someone else out there! Everything we ordered was vegan, payment was contact less, and we felt they were being super respectful of the current climate. We will be adding to the list until we feel we covered all the vegan Amsterdam takeaway places we could find!
Vegan Sushi Bar / Kinkerstraat 83, 1053 DH Amsterdam, Netherlands
Sushi has always been tough. I am not a fan of “ocean flavor”, the smell alone makes me weary. I would avoid much of Chinatown in New York because just a few blocks of smelling sidewalk gutted fish would make me feel ill enough to contemplate going home. Not that I would have ever eaten “real” sushi with fish, but the nori wrap was in and of itself enough to keep me away from ordering it. I loved the idea of dipping rice rolled veggies into a wasabi soy sauce, but thought that would never be possible until I discovered two things. 1 - some places have Yuba or “soy wrappers” and 2 - sometimes you don’t need a wrapper at all. I almost missed out on Vegan Sushi Bar because I didn’t want to be too much of a bother, but Joey insisted we ask, and they made me a nori-free shrimp less tempura crunch and it’s about my most favorite thing in the world right now to eat. The sashimi was WAY too realistic for me, but Joey loved it and couldn’t believe how good it was. He said if it weren’t for the “bubbles” he would have assumed it was real.

Vegabond / De Clercqstraat 48, 1052 NH Amsterdam, Netherlands
This place reminds me of the type of place you would find in Brooklyn. It’s a vegan deli of sorts with a take away case filled with very delicious sweet and savory choices accompanied by a well curated pantry and refrigerated section. We got a bunch of deli items and I also snagged the most delicious pesto ricotta from the refrigerated case. Our faves were the carrots and the BBQ burger and the cupcakes were all very good as well. So excited for this grab and go place!

Vegan Junk Food Bar / Staringplein 22, 1054 VL Amsterdam, Netherlands (more locations throughout Amsterdam)
We have been here so many times, I am obsessed with the chick’n caesar salad (not available for take away or delivery, sad face) and have been craving it non stop since this madness started. Some locations have a kids take away option which includes fries and a drink. Some burgers, fries and appetizers are on the take away menu, but it’s more extensive when you are able to eat in. The food is pretty, fun, and super delicious. It’s also incredibly consistent. I can’t wait to go back and eat in!

Karma BOX / www.thekarmabox.nl
This is less of a “take away” and more of a subscription service, but it’s so awesome we had to share. For 55 EU you got yourself a handful of meals, a handful of snacks and a few refreshments - not bad, especially when eating out is pretty expensive here. Everything was high quality, local, and delicious. I am really excited to see the next one.
SLA / Kruisweg 68B, 2011 LE Haarlem, Netherlands
This was a place that felt typical for us Americans. We were heavy into the “bowl” trend in the states, so it was great to see what it was like in Holland. We really loved the dressings and the combinations, but both agreed the “Mexican” bowl was best. Super great healthy and quick options for when you have a “fast food” need.

MOOSHKA VEGAN SOUL FOOD / Van Woustraat 110, 1073 LL Amsterdam, Netherlands
This is one of my favorite places in Holland so far. I loved the roti I got. The staff is SO nice and the place is just beautiful. We are excited to dig through the menus and try it all!

FREAKING VEGAN / Botermarkt 29, 2011 XM Haarlem, Netherlands
This place is really good, but be prepared to wait, no matter how far ahead you order. It kind of sticks, because we would order from here way more if we knew our order would be done roughly on time. The onion rings are my favorite and we both enjoyed our burgers a lot. If they tighten up operations to meet the demand, I am sure most people would consider this a five star vegan fast food place.

CHICKPEA / Kleine Houtstraat 2A, 2011 DM Haarlem, Netherlands
We loved this place SO much. The food was fantastic, the hot sauce was hot, and the Falafal was yummy. I loved my salad and all the variety it held. The vegan shoarma was delicious as well and the garlic sauce is a must try. Most importantly, everything was super fresh!

WilLem-Pie: VEGAN BAKERY / Johan Huizingalaan 76, 1065 JD Amsterdam, Netherlands
Wow. This place is amazing, no wonder there was a line 1/2 way around the block. Everything is delicious, you can’t go wrong. The chocolates are heavenly and 1 euro a piece, which is amazing for a great vegan option. The baked goods are perfect as well. When we want a treat, we know where to go!

SIR HUMMUS / Van der Helstplein 2, 1072 PH Amsterdam, Netherlands
This meal was good and fresh, but lacked a little flavor. You can tell the ingredient and combinations were well intended, but lacked that extra spark you would expect. I wish the eggplant had more flavor, though the consistence was great. The texture of the hummus was perfect and the pine nut and parcel addition were great too.

La CHICA FOOD / TEXT +31 629 175776 for Menu and Ordering
This is exclusively pick up! It took a moment to figure out how to order, but so happy we did! These vegan empanadas were amazing and so packed with flavors. They reminded me the Miami market we use to go to to stock up. If they only had aji on the side, it would feel like home!
THE VEGAN BAKERY / Lagedijk 11A, 1544 BA Zaandijk, Netherlands
Another bakery does it again. This place is basically perfect. Seriously, everything is so good. You can’t go wrong whether you are looking for savory or sweet. The pizza is fantastic, the fruit calzone is amazing, the cinnamon roll is perfect, I can go on and on. Walk in and pick from the case, day to day options change, but seriously, you can’t go wrong.
MEatless District / Bilderdijkstraat 65-67, 1053 KM Amsterdam
This place was so good! They have a few locations, but this is the one we ordered from. I am really excited to try the whole menu, every single thing (including the dressings) were some of the best food we have eaten in town!

About Vegan RoundUps
When we changed the blog from Making a House a Home (RIP) to Happily Curated Chaos, I had a goal to not only share our travels, but also our world schooling adventures and vegan finds. Please don’t think if you aren’t vegan, this isn’t for you. The amazing thing about vegan food is that it’s for everyone! Many times carnivores don’t even notice they are eating vegan - I know this because I married one.
A little background was something I figured you all would want before I advise you on “good food”! I have been vegetarian for 35 years, and vegan for nearly 8 of them. I am a 100% non-waivering vegan. I don’t do cheats, I don't turn my head, and I am wildly upset when I find out something isn’t vegan that I was brought to believe was. I am committed to the point this is almost religious for me. I recently got my diploma in vegan nutrition and am working on becoming a vegan chef.
